Tri for Life Triathlon Initiative
Welcomes Breezy Point Triathletes!

Breezy Point triathletes, welcome to blackwoodcaring. Thank you for taking the time to visit our page. We are a Hampton Roads family working with friends and neighbors to try to cure cancer. Our efforts are focused around the Breezy Point Tri and we invite as many triathletes to participate as are able. Participating on team 'Tri for Life' is easy and a rewarding way to focus your training efforts and struggles. It allows both you and us an opportunity to transform our training and participation into research and eventual cures for cancer.

If it's as simple as all that, you might be wondering how you can help. Well, you're probably already signed up for the triathlon so there are only a couple of steps to take. We'd like to be able to provide you with both a 'Tri for Life' team jersey and a means of letting your friends and family support your efforts. To help cure cancer take the next ten minutes to follow these steps on our create a sunflower squad page. We look forward to hearing from you!!

The second annual Tri For Life event will center around the Breezy Point Triathlon. This year, the Breezy Point Triathlon will be held at the Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk, Va, on Sunday, May 29th. We understand that many carcinoid patients cannot not participate in the triathlon themselves but would still like to get involved. Great! There will be many opportunities. The first opportunity is to help form and register both teams and individuals. It is possible to compete individually or as a team, however, there are only thirty places available to teams so please be sure to register on the first day of registration: January 1st. We hope to use this event as an avenue to gather the neuroendocrine community: patients, family, friends, and medical professionals.

If you'd like to register yourself or a team: click here.

If you'd like to participate in some other way, send us a note to join our support team.

Take the steps to find a cure:

1. Register as soon as possible!

2. January 1st-March: Breezy Point fills up fast. Register teams and individuals.

3. February-April: Begin training fundraising. For simple instructions click here. These funds will help map the genome responsible for cancer growth.

4. April-May: Continue training and spread the word throughout the community. If you have an idea for attracting media coverage for this Tri For Life event, let us know.

5. May, 29th, 8:00 am: Breezy Point Triathlon begins!!!

COMPETE TO COMPLETE:

You don’t have to be a great athlete to compete as our our goal is simply to complete the race: individually or on a team. If you can swim, cycle, or run (no matter how fast or slow), you can join one of our teams. All participants may keep blogs to chronicle their training and preparation for the race.
